The Urgency of Wonder

A Study of the Book of Revelation

Revelation is the only book of the Bible with a blessing given for the reading and hearing of it. It is truly a special book, but it is often a misunderstood book. God gave us Revelation not to tickle our fancy, but to strengthen our hearts in Him. It can be understood. It must be understood. It is the revelation of Jesus Christ (1:1, literally the "unveiling"), not the obscuring. From beginning to end, it is a book about the glory of Jesus Christ -- this is the wonder. So our reading of it should not be dead, as if it were a puzzle to be solved. Rather, we should take Revelation to heart, that it might produce a practical response in our real lives -- this is the urgency. Revelation does not allow us to read it and leave unchanged.
